Getting Started with Eating Disorder Treatment

Adult patients of all genders enter treatment at the appropriate level of care they need. This determination is generally based on medical complications, acuity of symptoms and past treatment history.

In treatment, adults receive medical and nutritional support from experienced professionals — addressing complications associated with a number of different eating disorders and mood and anxiety disorders. In addition, therapeutic interventions, like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are used to help adult patients learn how to create a rich and meaningful life in recovery. Using ACT, patients are supported in treatment to identify what they value in life. They learn and practice the tools to help them take committed action and achieve the lives they want to live.

As adult patients move along the path of recovery, they can step-down among the levels of care within our comprehensive service offerings. Stepping down to levels of care with more autonomy helps patients protect their recovery as they reconnect with their lives outside of the treatment center by testing their skills while still in an environment of structure and support.
