Biography

Vie Jones is an Anishinaabe, 2-Spirit, artist, storyteller, and performer. Vie is a registered band member of Garden River First Nation, and currently lives and works in Chapleau, Ontario.

Vie's work is largely based on their experiences as a Two-Spirit person growing up on the reserve and the tensions between complex social histories and lived impacts of settler colonial logics and Anishinaabe experiences. Rooted in an ethic of care, Vie’s work explores the intersections of experience and the transformative nature of trauma and how it makes itself felt within contemporary systems of power.
