Biography

Steph Young is an award-winning filmmaker, performance artist, and community facilitator. Her practice is deeply rooted in the human experience, and seeks to challenge dominant and harmful narratives while amplifying marginalized voices. Taking a unique approach to knowledge mobilization, she collaborates with researchers and change-makers to uncover emotional impact within their work, and bring their findings to life through storytelling. With a background in community-based practice, she empowers individuals to reclaim their own stories and experiences through the use of new media. Young is currently based in K'jipuktuk (Halifax, NS).
