Joyfull Nutrition Therapy
Biography
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Texas Tech University and completed my Dietetic Internship and Master’s degree there, as well. I am currently a registered and licensed dietitian happily practicing in Austin, TX.
At a very young age, I discovered a love for what I like to call “all things food” (in other words cooking, baking, recipe development, and such). That love inspired me to seek out opportunities all over the world to learn about food and people, and the relationship between the two. I gained experience in different settings, including work in specialty cookware retail, community food banks, and several units in an inpatient hospital. Each of these helped me realize how strongly I believe in building meaningful working relationships with those I serve.
I enjoy working with all ages, as well as with families and couples. I believe strongly that the conversation around nutrition is always two-way—there is value in what everyone has to say. My practice is anchored in a HAES® non-diet approach to food, one that focuses more on the food itself and less on labeling it “healthy” or “unhealthy.” Ultimately, it’s a balanced approach to food that promotes lasting mental and physical health. It is my absolute joy to help others reclaim the freedom that everyone deserves around food.
Before beginning to practice at the outpatient level of care in 2018, I had three and half years of experience in eating disorder treatment centers in the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care, supporting clients and their families as they pursued recovery. This was invaluable in cultivating the skills to provide nutrition counseling, lead groups focused on everyday nutrition challenges, and collaborate with other health professionals to optimize care.
