Biography

Sonya Jayaratna is an Adult and Child Psychiatrist treating patients at Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Centers in downtown Chicago. Her areas of specialization include mood and anxiety disorders, with experience working in residential and partial hospitalization programs. She trained at the University of Kentucky in their Triple Board Program, including Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  With her training and experience in Pediatric medicine, she is passionate about the holistic treatment of children and their families and understands the critical link between physical and mental health.

Dr. Jayaratna earned both her BS and Medical Doctorate from Indiana University. Dr. Jayaratna’s professional memberships include AACAP and APA. She grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana and is of Sri Lankan heritage as a first generation immigrant, which influences her passion to maintain diverse backgrounds and perspectives in any healthcare environment in which she serves. She lives with her husband and two rescue pit-mixes in Chicago, IL.
