Biography

Dr. Nancy Tyler is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working at our Chicago Suburbs location. With extensive experience in mood and anxiety disorders, as well as the treatment of eating disorders in adolescents and adults, Dr. Tyler has built a career focused on understanding the complex relationship between physical and emotional health. She has a particular passion for treating eating disorders, a specialty she has dedicated the past 13 years to, helping young people develop into their best selves by addressing both their physical and psychological needs.

Dr. Tyler's educational background and training are rooted in prestigious institutions. She grew up in Long Island, New York, and earned her Bachelor's degree from Tufts University before pursuing her MD at SUNY Buffalo. Dr. Tyler completed her pediatric residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, followed by her psychiatry residency at Beth Israel Medical Center. She then completed her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital at NYU. Her broad training across adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and pediatrics has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of mental health, allowing her to treat patients at various stages of development and across different levels of care.

Before joining Pathlight, Dr. Tyler served as an Attending Psychiatrist at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, where she specialized in the Eating Disorders and Self Injury recovery programs. Her diverse experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, combined with her compassionate approach to care, allows Dr. Tyler to effectively support her patients on their journey to recovery. Additionally, Dr. Tyler is fluent in Spanish, further enhancing her ability to connect with and treat a diverse patient population. Outside of work, she enjoys nature, bird watching, and spending time by the ocean, reflecting her appreciation for balance and well-being in both her personal and professional life.
