Biography

Amanda Seely, MD, is a Staff Psychiatrist working at our Bellevue, WA location. Originally from the Spokane area, she moved west of the Cascades after high school to attend Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, where she fell in love with the region's mild climate, lush forests, and dramatic landscapes. Dr. Seely views her clinical work as a privilege and a deep calling, emphasizing the importance of integrating diverse perspectives—especially those of her patients—into the therapeutic space. She strives to honor the humanity and wholeness of each patient and team member, maintaining a lifelong commitment to learning from her colleagues and patients alike. With a strong interest in psychotherapies ranging from behavioral to psychodynamic, she enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Dr. Seely attended the University of Washington for both medical school and residency training in Psychiatry, completing her residency in June 2024. During her training, she sought out numerous psychotherapy-specific rotations, including trauma therapy (CPT), couples therapy (IBCT), and OCD therapy (ACT & ERP). In June 2024, she also received a Certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute upon completion of their two-year program. Her academic excellence was recognized when she received the Clinical Excellence Award upon graduation from residency, an honor given to one graduating resident per class.

Professionally, Dr. Seely is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Washington State Psychiatric Association, and AGLP: The Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists. She has gained experience in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and consult-liaison psychiatry during her residency. Although she is new to the residential and partial hospitalization setting, she appreciates the integration of both inpatient and outpatient care it provides.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Seely enjoys gardening, backpacking, running, and aerial and circus arts. She is also dedicated to community-building and organizing, striving to create supportive and inclusive environments both personally and professionally.
