Telebehavioral healthcare has positively changed the landscape of eating disorder treatment delivery.  Research shows that patients struggling with binge eating disorder and associated disorders (bulimia nervosa and other specified eating disorders) benefit from exposure response prevention.  Specifically, telebehavioral healthcare has increased creativity, effectiveness, and accessibility when implementing exposure response prevention with these patients.  This presentation will explore methods for implementing exposures in the patients; home setting. Key social justice considerations when implementing exposure response prevention will also be highlighted.

Educational Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to -

  • Identify exposures appropriate for BED patients at all levels of care.
  • Identify barriers to exposures and how to work around them within a social justice lens. 
  • Implement appropriate exposures for BED patients in virtual spaces.
